Coach Heatwood broke the Western Wetsuit Institute's Endless Pool Swimming Record in their ENDLESS POOL in the ENDLESS POOL from sdfbcx's blog

The Welshman is a man who comes from Wales. On Friday, June 11th, Dave Tonge set a new world record by swimming in a wetsuit for 24 hours in an endless pool, becoming the first person to do so in the history of swimming. Tonge's undertaking was the longest of its kind in history. Tonge was successful in raising several thousand pounds (approximately $8200 USD) and donating it to the Velindre Cancer Hospital in Cardiff as a result of his fundraising efforts.

Tonge swam 60,000 meters in freestyle over the course of 24 hours in order to complete the challenge, following a pattern of 25 minutes of movement followed by 5 minutes of rest.

As a result of my training, I had completed a number of 12-hour swims, so the first 12 hours were relatively straightforward for me. However, Swim classes for adults are beneficial for a variety of reasons. I was able to make it to 15 hours, which was quite an accomplishment. My teammates were attempting to keep me awake by motivating me as a result of their exhaustion and fatigue. Tonge spoke with 220 Triathlon shortly after setting a new world record in the discipline. When I finished, I had swum 55 kilometers and was averaging 2:20 seconds per 100 meters, though he admitted that he did "showboat" and go a little faster at times.

In preparation for this day-long competition, the Heathwood Swim Coach completed two 12-hour long swims to help him get in shape before the competition began on Saturday. His first concert, which raised more than £5000 for charities associated with the National Health Service, and his second concert, which raised $2000 for the Velindre Foundation, were both tremendous successes.

Tonge completed the swim in 12.5 hours, which corresponded to the length of an average nurse/doctors shift caring for coronavirus patients on a daily basis when he finished in April 2020. During the month of April 2020, we published a story about this accomplishment.
