You are hiding something- You may not be hiding anything at all! However, having absolutely no virtual footprint is highly suspect. Employers like to see if you interact online and how you interact online to kind of see what they are working with. They also would just like to make sure you are a decent person, so if it does not even look like you exist it may raise some red flags.
You are not good at using social media- This may not matter to some employers, but most employers want to make sure that their employees are social media savvy. In today’s market, social media runs the world and it is always changing and growing,
therefore, you do not want to lose an opportunity to get a job because the employers don’t believe you know how to utilize social media.
In any field of work, many employers have been asking for social media handles, before hiring staff, if you think your work experience and work history is the only thing that they look at you are wrong! You need to be very careful with what you post because anything can come back to bite you. You should make sure you do not seem like you're too private for comfort, because again, it may look like you are hiding something. Lastly, if you know how to use social media and you are just not a fan at the least create a Facebook page. You do not even have to use it often, just share some things that interest you. Employers like to see that you show a wide range of interests, you just have to show your employer that you exist!
