The report was a source of attention partly due to franchise mode, which is a subject of contention with certain Madden players. Indeed, the promised roadmap was originally a response to the #fixmaddenfranchise hashtag that circulated Twitter in mid-2020, which started after reports suggested that EA did not plan improvements to franchise mode that year.

Since since then, EA has released new commissioner tools and also other improvements as well as a major overhaul of the scouting systems. Madden 22 also featured an enhanced scene engine, cutscenes from the season, and coaching skill trees. Fans continue to discuss the various areas where franchise mode has the potential to improve compared to the competition, from the relative lack of personalization to the myriad of bugs.

While EA Sports wouldn't provide any additional details, additional improvements are planned for an upcoming date. The new updates could include improvements to franchise relocation that were promised in the original blueprint of Madden 22. Expect more details in 2022.
