MT 2K23 has evolved from to a mere product of hype in the world of games. It's now a moment in culture with its intersection of music, pop culture, fashion, sneakers, and of obviously, basketball has taken the game to levels that cannot be matched by other games. In its most recent edition, NBA 2K23. the game broke records when it announced J. Cole as the first rapper ever to appear on the cover NBA 2K with the Dreamer Edition. While it's no surprise that 2K had a cover of this, especially at the end of the release process, the style of the game's gameplay may have implied that this might happen some day. Although, as it turns out this wasn't actually 2K's idea, it was J. Cole's.

"Three and a half years ago when he shot a ball on one of the breaks of the All-Star Weekend Saturday Night, J. Cole said 'Ronnie I'd like to see you in MyCareer and be a part of the ideas around it"" Ronnie 2K tells Complex. "I have worked with my team to bring this idea to life , but it was suitable to work with his. When we put out the teaser, everyone thought it was going turn out to be another basketball player...it allows us to live in fashion, cultureand music which 2K has a seat at now."

The J. Cole cover is one of the four covers that are included in the new edition of 2K along with other covers featuring Michael Jordan, Devin Booker and a duo with Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi. NBA 2K23 talk has been buzzing on social media of late with the NBA ratings falling this week. Kevin Durant even took at playful joking when his 2K rating was released.On the week prior to the game's launch, we spoke with Ronnie Singh aka Ronnie 2K about the decision to place MJ as the game's cover instead of LeBron and why Devin Booker was selected over other NBA stars MyCareer, ProAm gameplay, and much more.

Being a part of the development process, what's the most important thing that you're thrilled about for NBA 2K23?Well, having the honor of putting Jordan in the center of the book is always awe inspiring and also working with him, and also the announcement that lets us know that we are think of our game as the most memorable of all time. It really speaks volumes to what we were trying to make from a business perspective as well as for how the game's future will be.

There are the Jordan challenges. They're back. However, they're larger. Better. There's been plenty of buzz about about, each and every one of them, but it's the one which is going to be really emotional, and one I'm looking forward to going back to and reliving is Kobe. The first game will be against one another. It's bound to be fun.
