How To Register GST in India? from Online Legal India's blog

GST registration refers to the process of registering a business under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system in India. GST is a value-added tax levied on the supply of goods and services in India, and it has replaced many indirect taxes that were previously levied by the Central and State governments.

Any business that supplies goods or services with a turnover exceeding a certain threshold must register for GST. The threshold limit for GST registration is currently set at Rs. 40 lakhs for most businesses (Rs. 10 lakhs for businesses in northeastern and hill states). However, certain businesses, such as those engaged in inter-state supply or e-commerce, are required to register for GST even if their turnover is below the threshold limit.

To register for GST, a business must provide its PAN (Permanent Account Number), proof of business registration, and other relevant details. Registration can be done online through the GST portal or by visiting a GST Seva Kendra. Once registered, the business will receive a unique GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number) that it must use for all its GST-related transactions.
