What is ADHD?

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a medical condition that includes difficulty paying attention and controlling impulsive behaviors. people with adhd may face trouble paying attention to a single task or sitting still for more extended periods. According to a diagnosis of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), both adults and children can have ADHD.

 

What are the types of ADHD?

Predominantlyinattentive, predominantly hyperactivity-impulsive, and a combination of both are the three types of ADHD.

  1. Predominantly Inattentive: People with this condition have more symptoms of inattention than any other. The symptoms include a lack of focus and attention. People who experience this behavior often:

 

     Easily distracted and got bored quickly

     Have trouble focusing on finishing tasks

     Have difficulty in following instructions

     Process information more slowly than others

  1. Predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type: People with hyperactive type of ADHD may show symptoms like hyperactivity and impulsive behavior. The symptoms include :

     Fidgeting

     Difficulty in sitting still

     Trouble is waiting for their turn

      Interrupting conversations

3.    Combined hyperactive-impulsive and inattentive type: People with a combined form of ADHD show both inattentive and hyperactive symptoms. A person with combined ADHD can display six or more symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. The symptoms include:

     Difficulty in paying attention

     Impulsiveness

     Becoming confused easily

     Inability to pay attention
