Cosplay in reality wasn’t born at Comic-Con. The art of dressing up in complex sci-fi or comic-book inspired costumes existed long earlier than the convention’s modest first day out in 1970,   Cosplay Costume  but San Diego’s annual celebration of comics, TV, and movies helped release the once-area of interest craze into the mainstream. (All of those Leias in gold bikinis likely didn’t harm both.) 


With Comic-Con International beginning Thursday,   Deadpool Costume  we’ve taken a adventure again to the beginning of cosplay — when it became dubbed “costuming” — and assemble a timeline of some important moments within the records of fan fashion.
