Cavaliers report cards 2017-18 Part 1 from seestyle's blog

CLEVELAND As the Cavaliers season came to an end with a Finals sweep over the weekend, its time for end-of-season report cards. In Part 1, we will examine the seasons of LeBron James, , , , , and . Part 2, written by Eli Mooneyham, can be found . Click through the gallery below to see each individuals grade.LeBron James: A+ Its hard to imagine giving LeBron James anything le s than the highest po sible grade. He averaged 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9.1 a sists while shooting 54.2 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from deep during the regular season. Both the rebounding and a sists numbers were career-highs. James also scored his 30,000th career point, Sean Davis Jersey becoming just the sixth player in league history to do so. In March, he scored in double-digits in his 867th consecutive game, breaking Michael Jordans record. For the first time in James career, he played in all 82 games 104 in total with the playoffs. In the postseason, he somehow found a way to up his output even further. He averaged 34 points, 9.1 rebounds and 9.0 a sists, dragging a team that seemed at times unlikely to get out of the first round all the way to the Finals. In a season of ups and downs and roster turnover, James proved time and time again that he was the only real constant for the franchise. No matter what James decides to do this offseason, its hard to argue that he gave anything other than his best this season. When you look at all his accomplishments, its really disappointing that he wont get more consideration for league MVP.Up next: Tristan ThompsonTristan Thompson: C+ This was arguably the roughest year for Tristan Thompson since entering the NBA. For the first time Joe Gilliam Jersey since entering the league, he mi sed significant time with injury, 29 games in total. His 5.8 points per game were a career low, and his 6.6 rebounds per game were the second-lowest of his career. On top of that, off-the-court i sues quickly became a distraction late in the regular season. By the time the playoffs started, Thompson found himself out of the rotation in favor of Larry Nance Jr. But still, Thompson stayed ready and in a crucial Game 7 against Indiana he came up with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. He followed that up with a 14-12 double-double in the Cavs first game against Toronto, and against Boston, he proved crucial in stopping Al Horford. For all the disappointment in his regular season, Thompson stayed ready throughout the postseason and found ways to deliver in key moments.Up next: Jordan ClarksonJordan Clarkson: D+/C- The young point guard acquired at the trade deadline was up and down through 28 regular season games with Cleveland. He averaged 12.6 points, but as the season wore on, it became increasingly clear that the glaring weakne s in Clarksons game is his inability to facilitate offense for anyone other than himself. He at times turned into a black hole on the offensive end, averaging just 1.7 a sists per game, and defensively wasnt able to make any significant impact. Thats why he found himself out of the rotation by the Finals. At his worst, he was a flat out liability. At his best, he provided some scoring for the second unit. Clarkson still has plenty of work to do in the offseason, but his addition wasnt an abject failure.Up next: Larry Nance Jr.Scroll to ContinueLarry Nance Jr.: B When Larry Nance Jr. was acquired by the Cavs at the trade deadline, he quickly distinguished himself among the new additions. He provided versatility on both ends of the floor, which in turn brought more energy to a Vince Williams Jersey veteran team that had been coasting in the worst po sible way up until that point. He started 10 of the 24 regular season games he played in for Cleveland this year, averaging 8.9 points and 7.0 rebounds. Ever since he suffered a hamstring injury late in mid-March, he never seemed to be the same. But like Thompson, Nance Jr. stayed ready as he navigated his first playoffs. His signature game this postseason arguably came in Game 6 against the Boston Celtics when he put up 10 points and grabbed seven boards. He also quickly proved he could have an impact against Golden State, scoring nine points and pulling down 11 rebounds in Game 1. In an offseason that is bound to be full of uncertainty for the Cavs, Nance Jr. offers plenty to be excited about for next season.Up next: Jose CalderonJose Calderon: B- Many people balked in the offseason when the Cavs picked up veteran point guard Jose Calderon.By the end of the season though, many Cavs fans were wondering why the vet wasnt getting more playing time. Calderon didnt put up flashy numbers 4.5 points and 2.1 a sists in 57 games but the Cavs did win 23 of the 32 regular-season games he started in. His signature game came on April 4 at home against Toronto, when he dropped a season-high 19 points and had four a sists as the Cavs came up with a six-point win. Calderon may not be the future of the franchise, but in the end, he brought much-needed profe sionalism to a team that desperately needed it even though he wasnt given many chances to shine.Up next: Ante ZizicAnte Zizic: B- Who would have thought back in August that a rookie most fans hadnt heard of would be the only one remaining on the Cavs roster from the Kyrie Irving trade. Marcus Gilbert Jersey The 21-year-old spent time down in the G League this year, and also worked extensively with a sistant coach Vitaly Potapenko getting ready for the NBA. In 18 games with the Canton Charge, Zizic averaged16.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while shooting 57.3 percent from the field, proving he can finish well around the rim. His best stretch with the Cavs arguably came in March when he played in 12 games overall and averaged 6.7 points and 3.0 rebounds. Throughout the season, Zizic proved that he was worth acquiring in the trade and has plenty of upside.Up next: Tyronn LueTyronn Lue: C Lue is flat out the toughest grade to a sign of all on the list. In the end, he did make some key mistakes throughout the regular season and playoffs (mainly lineups, but more John Stallworth Jersey on that in the minute.) However, he did get this team to what always felt like was their destiny: a lo s to Golden State in the NBA Finals. At times, Lue gave certain players too much leeway (looking at you Jeff Green). There was the whole Dwyane Wade is our starter, wait, no hes not debacle. There was Isaiah Thomas disrupting the entire culture when he returned in January. There was a slowne s to adjust against both Indiana (it was around Game 5 when Lue stopped switching everything on defense) and Boston (Tristan Thompson should have started from the very beginning) in the playoffs. There was a lack of any kind of defensive system from the regular
