The ketogenic diet, often known as the keto diet, is a
high-fat diet. Low in carbs and moderately high in protein. The diet is
predicated on the premise that the body starts to break down fat into ketones,
which the body uses for energy, when consumption of simple carbs and/or sugar
is decreased to less than 30-50 grammes per day for more than a few days. If
you are following a ketogenic diet, I personally advise eating lots of leafy
greens. Due to their low calorie content, these can account for up to 25% of
the food consumed but only give 5% of the calories you require. Two servings of
spinach, for instance, have just 20 calories each.
When fatty tissue is broken down into free fatty
acids, ketosis develops. The liver will subsequently transform these fatty
acids into chemicals known as ketones, which serve as an alternative energy
source. Betahydroxybutyrate, acetoacetate, and acetone are the three primary
types of ketones.
I frequently tell my patients that ketones act as the
body's equivalent of high-octane fuel. When sugar intake is decreased, the
brain and the rest of the body may use this "cleaner burner" fuel.

be found. I follow a ketogenic diet that is high in leafy green vegetables, as
