YouTuber and Twitch streamer Settled rose to
RS gold prominence as an Old School RuneScape content creator by recording every step in completing the game's most masochistic obstacle: Maxing out each of the game's 23 abilities on an Ultimate Ironman character. Ultimate Ironman personalities are forbidden from trading and using in-game banks. This means that these players can not hoard the materials used to train particular abilities beyond what they are able to hold in 28 stock spaces- turning an already tough procedure into an unbelievable slog. What's more, all these materials must be collected personally since Ironman characters can't exchange with other players.
Following a 7,000-hour journey to max his first Ultimate Ironman personality, Settled decided to"up the ante," in his own words, by locking a fresh new Ultimate Ironman character in the relatively small and empty swamp area of RuneScape's enormous world map: Morytania. Because Morytania is a comparatively high-level place, even the start levels of every ability have been shown to be an incredible grind.
For example, the only means for Settled to earn the initial 15 Agility levels would be to try to jump across a broken bridge. With a low agility level, there was little chance of him crossing the bridge, therefore failing was really the only option. Struggling to cross the bridge resulted in a profit of just two XP in addition to taking a decent amount of damage. Since there's no other method for Swampletics to make agility experience with a low level, the only alternative was to allow him to fail at crossing the bridge over and over again. As he took damage each time he collapsed, he had to interrupt his training by collecting food to heal himself. Reaching Agility level 15 took Settled 11 hours, whereas a normal player would attain this milestone in less than an hour.
Settled also spent days researching the in-game mechanisms of Morytania's Temple Trekking mini-game in order to efficiently earn"Tomes of Expertise". These tomes offer experience to one random ability, making them exceptionally inefficient to train a certain skill, but they are the only way he can gradually progress his Slayer level within Morytania. While this might not sound like engaging content, Swampletics fans can't get enough of those creative and incredible lengths Settled goes to achieve even the most mundane objectives. These low-level goals aren't normally worth observing, but if perfecting a relatively unpopular mini-game is what it requires for Swampletics to succeed, Settled will take action and his supporters will watch.
With all these restrictions placed on his account, Settled is compelling Old School RuneScape to its absolute limits, along with the game's community is rallying around this unbelievable (and frankly absurd) job. It is possible to catch up with Swampletics' travel up to
