In the face of all kinds of notebook liquid crystal computers on the market, many people may be confused by their various titles. So how should notebook liquid crystal displays be classified and what are the types of notebook liquid crystal displays? How to distinguish? The following is to introduce the types of notebook LCD and the distinguishing method of notebook LCD.
1、 What are the types of notebook LCD
First of all, notebook LCD can be divided into LCD (narrow sense) and led in terms of workmanship and materials. Because OLED is a different display technology, OLED notebook screen is not in the scope of comparison.
1. LCD display
LCD is the abbreviation of liquid crystal display. The structure of LCD is to place a liquid crystal cell between two parallel glass substrates. A TFT (thin film transistor) is set on the lower glass substrate, and a color filter is set on the upper glass substrate. The rotation direction of liquid crystal molecules is controlled by changing the signal and voltage on the TFT, So as to achieve the control of each pixel polarized light emission or not and achieve the purpose of display.
Advantages: the display panel is thin (flat structure), low electromagnetic radiation, passive display (no glare, conducive to eye health), large amount of display information, easy to color, long life (this device has almost no deterioration problem, so the life is very long, but the LCD backlight life is limited).
Disadvantages: the color is not bright enough.
2. Led liquid crystal display
LED is the abbreviation of light emitting diode, which means light emitting diode. It is a kind of solid-state semiconductor device that can convert electric energy into visible light. It can directly convert electricity into light, and the LED display is more energy-saving, more durable, long service life, high brightness and less heat. It is an environmental friendly green lighting source, and its workmanship is higher!
According to different control methods, LCD can be divided into passive matrix LCD and active matrix LCD.
(1) Passive matrix LCD
Passive matrix LCD is limited in brightness and viewing angle, and its reaction speed is slow. Because of the problem of picture quality, this kind of display device is not conducive to the development of desktop display. Passive matrix LCD can be divided into TN-LCD (twisted nematic LCD), STN LCD (super TN-LCD) and dstn-lcd (double layer STN-LCD).
(2) Active matrix LCD
At present, active matrix LCD is widely used, also known as thin film transistor (TFT-LCD). TFT LCD is built-in transistor in each pixel of the screen, which can make brightness brighter, color richer and wider visual area.
2、 Distinguishing method of notebook LCD
In notebook computers, dstn-lcd (commonly known as false color display) and TFT-LCD (commonly known as true color display) are mainly used. At present, LED display refers to LED backlight, which is relative to the current mainstream lamp backlight. The display is still LCD.
DSTN (dual layer super twist nematic) LCD: double scan twisted nematic LCD, which means to scan twisted nematic LCD through double scan mode to achieve the purpose of display. Dstn-lcd is not a real color display, it can only display a certain color depth, so it is called "pseudo color display". Dstn-lcd is not suitable for high-speed full motion image, video playback and other applications because of its poor contrast and brightness, small viewing range of screen, low color, especially slow response speed. It is generally only used for text, table and static image processing, and now it has basically disappeared.
TFT (thin film transistor) LCD: it is a screen composed of thin film transistors. Each liquid crystal pixel is driven by thin film transistors integrated behind the pixels. On the display screen, there are four independent thin film transistors behind each pixel (one black and three RGB colors) to drive the pixels to emit color light, which can display 24 bit true color, Can achieve high speed, high brightness, high contrast display screen information. TFT-LCD is one of the best LCD color display devices, and it is the mainstream display device on notebook computers.
