2K Games reveals new ‘NBA 2K21’ gameplay tweaks and enhancements from Lora Young's blog

2K Games has announced new gameplay changes that will be implemented in NBA 2K21, as well as the upcoming release of the game's demo.

The current-generation versions of the upcoming basketball simulator will include a number of gameplay changes that will appeal to a "wide range of fans."Mike Wang, the PlayStation Blog's gameplay director, provided a detailed explanation of the changes.

One of the most significant changes that will be implemented is the Pro Stick feature. Players will have greater offensive control as a result of the modifications.

“In previous games, you could take a jump shot by holding the pro stick in any direction. We were unable to fully utilize the right stick as a dribble stick as a result of this limitation. As a result, we're making a pretty significant change to the way the Pro Stick works this year,” Wang explained.

The new Pro Stick controls can be found in the section below.

* Holding down the RS button equals a jump shot.
* Holding the RS left or right causes dribble moves to be escaped.
* Holding the RS up results in signature size-ups.
* Quick 1-to-1 dribble moves when you tap the right shoulder.
* Tap the RS while holding the Sprint button to create quick momentum dribble movements.

Aside from that, the NBA 2K21 MT Pro Stick will bring back Shot Stick Aiming, which was last seen in NBA 2K17. When players take a shot with the Pro Stick in this year's game, the familiar timing window will be replaced by a mini-targeting system. Wang also confirmed that the new aiming system will apply to layups as well, meaning that players will need to have a “good touch” near the rim in order to make them.

The developers of NBA 2K21 have raised the height restriction for point guards to 6'8" in the game's MyCareer mode. The change was made in response to a request made by Damian Lillard, the game's current-gen cover star.

Beginning on August 24, a current-generation demo of the game will be made available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It will be available on PC and Google Stadia at a later date.

Updated NBA 2K21 player ratings for LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers

When it comes to NBA 2K21 MT, the makers of the game have been hard at work putting together ratings for the reigning champions, who are the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James (98 overall) and Anthony Davis (96 overall) lead the Lakers' starting lineup, according to player ratings released on Thursday by 2K Sports.

In the most recent version of the game, James and Davis are by far the most talented players on the Los Angeles Lakers' roster. Lakers' starting five are rounded out by Danny Green (76), Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (76), and Alex Caruso (75).

On Sept. 4, when NBA 2K21 was first released, James and fellow Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo were tied for the highest overall rating (97).

Now that the preparations for the upcoming season have begun, 2K has given James a one-point boost, elevating him to the top of the rankings in the game. During the playoffs, the 35-year-old added to his legacy by winning his fourth championship.

Other than Michael Jordan, who has six NBA Finals MVP awards, James is the only player to have won more than four. During the six-game series against the Miami Heat, he averaged 29.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game.

NBA 2K21 is available on all current-generation gaming consoles. It will be available for download on the XBox Series X and S on November 10, and on the PlayStation 5 on November 12th.
