Mining: Mining should be used only at the beginning or if you are looking to invest an hour or so mining to save cash. If you're looking to RuneScape Gold mine, you should know that level 85 (Unless you are looking for the mining skillcape) is ok to get to. When you reach lvl 85, you are able to mine any kind of ore you want to.

Smithing: Levels 1-15: Just mine some copper ore, tin, and smelt it into bronze bars. Then you can use them to make weapons. Keep doing this until Smithing is Lvl 15. Levels 15-30: U can now mine and melt iron. This isn't recommended as iron is not always able to make bars. I tried it but it wasn't the most effective way to get to level 31. Instead, you should try The Knight's Sword quest. This is easy and increases the level of smithing to 31 after you complete it.

Levels 31-99: By now, you should buy a small amount of iron and coal and start smelting bars (make sure you buy two times the amount of iron contained in coal, e.g. 15 iron, 30 coal). You don't have to try to smith them. Just sell them on the Grand Exchange (G.E.). Today, each steel bar sold at the G.E. earns you 914 gp. You can stop smelting steel bar once you reach 1M gp. You will lose some money, a lot in fact, but don't worry because by making rune-related items, create, you will be able to get it all back when you get to around lvl 85.

Tips: What I found out this morning that I have am at lvl 68, is that I'm trying to get to 1 million gp so I can buy all the gold ore I need to reach 99. I will mine and smelt up to 15 bars of fresh metal once I am able to smelt it (for me, at level 70 with an addy).

I'll smith the weapons that I want as I progress in my level. Then I'll sell them for additional money or to earn exp. when I sell at G.E.This is my opinion of what I have found to be simple.
