The term "Magical items" is used throughout the rest of the guide to refer to items that can be rolled as D2R Runewords for sale, Rare, Set, or Unique.If an item has the quality "Magic" highlighted in blue, it is referring to a specific item of that quality.
When it comes to Diablo II: Resurrected, magic find is easily misunderstood.When a new player sees a stat like 50% Chance of Getting Magic Items, they may form the impression that with every mob they kill or treasure they open, they will be guaranteed to receive a Magical item 50% of the time. This is not the case.Magic Find does not operate in this manner; it is a little more complicated.

In D2:R, all loot items dropped by mobs or containers have a natural chance of rolling at various item rarity qualities based on their rarity.The affix Better Chance of Getting Magic Items increases the likelihood that an item will be Magic, Rare, Set, or Unique based on the set chance that was previously mentioned.Suppose a dropped item has been programmed with a 10% chance of being Magic quality and a 5% chance of being Rare quality; having 100% increased Magic Find means that it will now have a 20% chance of dropping as Magic quality and a 10% chance of dropping as Rare quality, and so on.
Magic find does not increase the number of items that drop, but rather increases the likelihood that the item that did drop will roll up as a Magical item when it is used.In either case, you'd get exactly the same number of drops, but there's a greater chance that they'll be of higher quality because they contain magical properties.
The percentage of a drop is not a guarantee.Despite this, the RNG (random number generator) remains a factor.Even if you kill 20 mobs and each of them drops 10 items with a 20% Magic chance, it is possible to receive no Magical items at all despite your efforts.It's also possible to have a fantastic streak and obtain two unique items in a row.The parameters are defined by the Magic Find percentage, but everything else is up to chance.Killing more mobs is the key to achieving success in Magic Find: the greater the number of mobs you kill, the greater your take.
The base item that drops as a result of Magic Find has no effect.It only has an impact on whether or not the item that drops is Magical.Regardless of whether a particular mob's loot table includes possibilities such as 1-2 armor pieces, 1-2 weapon combinations, 1 Jewel, and 500-1000 gold, the mob will still drop some combination of 1-2 armor pieces, 1-2 weapons, 1 Jewel, and 500-1000 gold, depending on the situation.Magic Find only increases the likelihood that the armor and weapon pieces it drops are of Magical quality, as well as the level of Magical quality of those armor and weapon pieces.More Magic Find does not result in more drops of gear, rings, amulets, runes, jewels, gems, or charms; rather, killing more mobs results in more drops of these items.
Magic Find is based on the killing blow delivered by a mob, rather than when the mob is engaged.When a character opens a container, the Magic Find math is applied to the contents of the container.There are some skilled Magic Find farmers who will make quick equipment swaps just before a mob dies or just before opening a container to avoid wasting time.This allows them to use their best monster-hunting gear to take them down while also having their best Magic Find gear ready for the final killing blow.This is a high-risk strategy that is typically used only in high-level boss fights where this kind of timing is even remotely possible.It is not a technique that is recommended for those who are new to the practice.
Returns on Investment are diminishing.
Magic Find is affected by the law of diminishing returns, which is especially true for Rare, Set, and Unique items.This begins to take effect at 200% Magic Find, which is the point at which the curve for improving Magic Find begins to flatten out.In terms of obtaining those three qualities, increasing your MF% from 0 to 350% will be extremely beneficial, but beyond that, you will not see a significantly higher rate of return on finding Uniques.After this point, the quality levels of all three quality levels begin to flatten out, with Uniques being the most severely affected by diminishing returns.
What Quantity of Magic Find Do You Require?
Once again, the answer is that it is dependent.
Having a good Magic Find build is all about striking a balance between increasing your Magic Find while also being able to kill mobs quickly and efficiently.Those properties that give you a better chance of getting magic items are taking the place of other abilities that could help you fight or recover more quickly.A Rare item has 2-6 random magical properties when it is rolled up, so when it is rolled up on a Rare item with Magic Find, it takes up one of those all-important slots.On Set and Unique items, these are typically (but not always) static properties that are applied to the pieces in question.
Even though the conventional answer is that you can never have too much Magic Find, the real answer is a little more complicated.Because of diminishing returns, players with extremely high MF numbers are unlikely to obtain significantly more Unique items than players with more modest and efficient numbers.Because the key to successful MF farming is getting as many kills as possible in the shortest amount of time, limiting your ability to speed-run is counterproductive.Many MF farmers have discovered that 400% MF is sufficient to provide them with a good chance of finding Uniques without sacrificing too much speed.The majority of gear items are at least Magic quality when magnified by 500%.This widely disseminated chart is a good graphic representation of the problem that does not get too bogged down in the details of the numbers.
As you can see, the effectiveness of Magic Find decreases as the type of gear you're attempting to locate increases.When you look at the magic gear line, you can see that there is a 1:1 relationship between Total Magic Find (MF; your score) and Effective Magic Find (EMF).In the case of rare gear, your Effective Score is effectively halved to 300 EMF for 600 MF and then drops off from there; by 1000 MF, the EMF is only around 375.When it comes to Set Items, they are a little below Rare, diverging at about 400 MF, which means that to get an EMF of 300, you must be close to 800 MF.Uniques are never able to get much further than 200 EMF.The higher the quality, the more difficult it is to locate; however, a good Magic Find will significantly increase your chances of success.
