Are you confused on which diploma course to join? Are you interested to join diploma in mechanical engineering and want to know about its scope? Then read further to get to know about all these.

According to the recent survey report, the demand for jobs in mechanical engineering will increase upto 11% in 2026. And accordingly, the salary of the mechanical engineers is also expected to grow. Do you have any idea of how these are going to happen? It is through emerging of new workplaces in the country.

The list of career roles that the polytechnic mechanical engineers can take are huge - manufacturing manager, nuclear engineer, mining engineer, aerospace engineer, maintenance & control engineer etc. Therefore, the graduates of this stream need not worry for monotonous job nature. There is board scope for mechanical graduates to develop their career.

Adding to this, there are lots of recruiters who are in demand of fresh mechanical graduates to work in this stream. L&T, Tata, Siemens, Godrej, Thermax, Ashok Leyland and lot more. All you have to do is - improve the skills and technical knowledge about this industry. The students must focus on the subject from day 1 of their college days. Gaining deep practical knowledge is also mandatory to get placement in top mechanical companies.

How to get noticed by the recruiters?

Here are some tips for diploma in mechanical engineering students to bag the campus placement. Along with the syllabus, try to take part in additional activities. For example, get internship and work for any company in the holidays. So that, you will gain lots of practical knowledge. You can also take part in college leadership campaigns to improve the leadership qualities. Moreover, these things will give additional value to your resume.

Learn about the different streams of mechanical engineering and also about the present market trend. Know what skills are in demand and master it. Thus, cracking the interview will be easy. These days, job competition is so high. So, to win the competition, students must have knowledge about their specializations.

Speakers in seminars will get dual benefit of improving the public speaking confidence and also deep knowledge in the subject. Our polytechnic colleges in Villupuram knows the significance of seminars. Therefore, we encourage our students to take seminars often in class rooms and also in various cultural events.

Furthermore, there are more chances for diploma students to network with students of other colleges too. Usually, all the colleges are focusing on cultural events. Hence, the students can network with other college students and discuss about the technology. This will broaden the scope of understanding things in a better way.

The seminars and workshops will happen in different places. Through this, students need not improve the skills in monotonous way – within the classroom. Their communication and subject knowledge are improved, not only through textbooks or academic classes, but also through seminars and workshops.

Our ES polytechnic college conducts two- or three-days workshops frequently. This helps students to improve the technical skills, English fluency and also helps in building the strong profile.

Kevin Ashton (UK) is the father of the Internet of Things (IoT)which describes the network of physical objects “things” that are embedded with sensors, software and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the internet. This subject is taught in the core as well as add-on courses in our Elumalai Polytechnic College for our Second Year and Third Year Diploma in Electronics Engineeringelectronics and communication engineering and computer science engineering branch Students.

The Internet of things, or IoT, is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers (UIDs) and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.

Efforts have been made in the form of Project Works in our Elumalai Polytechnic College to interface the IoT applications that are used to address many real-world issues like traffic congestion, city services, economic development, citizen engagement, and public safety and security. Smart cities often embed IoT sensors into the physical infrastructure, such as streetlights, water meters and traffic signals.

Use of IoT is also exploding in the consumer sector. Our students at Elumalai Polytechnic College are designing the methodology to enable domestic appliances like Dishwashers, refrigerators, smart TVs, smart watches, cars and trucks, heating and cooling systems, and fitness machines through IoT.

When it comes to delivering learning in a better and more practical way, laboratories always have their essential role. Best lab facilities have their key part in a polytechnic college in making students have the perfect and real practical sessions. Since we understand this, our polytechnic colleges are ensured to have enough well-equipped labs, without leaving any boundaries for the practical activities.

Importance of labs in the modern education system

In order to make sure that the students gain real experience and apply what they have learned theoretically, labs are very important. In fact, a good lab is considered the most demanded characteristic, when it comes to choosing a polytechnic.

If you are a student studying for a diploma in vfx, it is certain that a top-class lab is an ideal place where you can give life to your creative stories. Unless and until you don’t put it into practice and try, there is no use for theoretical learning.

The more practical applications are carried out by polytechnic students, the better their confidence level will be.

How are polytechnic colleges exploring more with powerful lab facilities?

●       Faculties impart essential skills with practical knowledge of technologies through labs.

●       Allows the students to be given better chances of formulating their own ideas.

●       For students studying for a diploma in civil engineering, a perfect and rich lab facility enables them to determine the physical properties of construction materials.

●       With the right lab facilities, polytechnic colleges can empower students to have industry-specific experimenting sessions

●       Students will always have their curiosity to apply the things they have learned. Laboratories give them the chance to test and experiment with their learning.

●       Labs help the students to put forth their learning and come to correct conclusions about what they have derived from the subject.

●       Civil diploma students can make specimens, and test the strength and performance of a wide range of civil engineering materials. This helps them in acquiring sound knowledge on the subject.

Labs are the places where students can improve their analytical skills and this makes them vital in a polytechnic college.

The subject on Engineering Materials is given utmost priority in Elumalai Polytechnic College, Villupuram campus. They refer to the group of materials that are used in the construction of manmade structures and components. The primary function of an Engineering Material is to withstand applied loading without breaking and without exhibiting excessive deflection. They include metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites.

The Students of Elumalai Polytechnic College, Villupuram, are taught about the properties of the materials used in manufacturing. These include strength, density, toughness, ductility and resistance to fatigue. Alloys are generally harder, stronger and resist corrosion better than pure metals.

Metals, ceramics, glass, and even the screens on mobile phones that we used every day are all related to material science. The syllabus taught at Polytechnic College in Villupuram emphasizes material science as a research field focusing on the preparation and processing of certain materials and the interaction between their microstructure and macrostructure.

In our Elumalai Polytechnic CollegeVillupuram, the students learn about the materials and expertise themselves to almost every industry around the world, from mining and manufacturing to aerospace, advanced electronics and healthcare. Their work impacts the economy, the environment, our health and quality of life, our standard of living, transportation and safety.
