Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, and Chengdu all have direct trains to Lhasa. From the departure station to Lhasa, it basically takes more than 40 hours, two days and two nights. The stops on the second half of these trains are basically the same. Xi'an, Lanzhou, Xining, Golmud and so on, all these cities being also popular tourist cities, so you can play all the way, and go to a city for a day or two before continuing. In this way, you can go to Lhasa without knowing it, and it is not easy to have a high reaction.

ps: The train from Golmud to Lhasa should be arranged in the daytime as much as possible. This section of the scenery is the most beautiful.

2. Unless time is very tight, it is not recommended to fly

First, if you take a direct flight to Lhasa, it is easy to get high. If you have no experience in the plateau, it is best to go by train first. If you are short on time, you can take the plane when you leave.

Second, you will see half of the plateau scenery by plane than by train. The train will start supplying oxygen after passing through Golmud, which means that the plateau has arrived, and there are snow mountains all the way, as well as alpine snow fields, green grasslands and wild animals. It can be seen everywhere. From time to time, people will exclaim that they have seen Tibetan antelopes and so on. This is something you can't experience by plane. And Chengdu to Lhasa flight is a common route for travellers.

3. Self-driving

Both the Sichuan-Tibet line and the Qinghai-Tibet line are acceptable. It is recommended to take the Qinghai-Tibet line when entering Tibet for the first time. The road is good and it is not easy to get stuck in traffic. Even an old driver can easily drive it. When you return, you can consider taking the Sichuan-Tibet line. If you don’t see the scenery of the Sichuan-Tibet line, it will be a lifetime regret. If you have enough time, you can choose to go to Yunnan for a while, and then enter Tibet through the Yunnan-Tibet line. The Rizhao Jinshan in Meili Snow Mountain is very shocking.
