Lifesavers was
first introduced in 1912 by Clarence Crane, a chocolatier from Ohio. Seeking a
candy that could withstand the summer heat better than chocolate, he created a
circular, peppermint-flavored hard candy with a hole in the center, resembling
a life preserver — hence the name “Lifesavers.” Over the years, Lifesavers
expanded its flavor range and became a household name. Lifesavers Gummies were
introduced much later, adding a new level of variety to the brand and allowing
Lifesavers to cater to the trend of chewy, gummy snacks.
