Snapchat is the latest app to be hacked. Snapchat allows users the ability to share photos with other friends. The app disappears instantly without any trace after approximately 1-10 seconds depending upon the deliverers settings.

Hackers now have the usernames and numbers of 4.6 million users. They exposed a security flaw in the "Find Friends" feature that was believed to be at the root of the breach. Christopher Soghoian is the American Civil Liberties Union's principal technologist. He said that hackers "demonstrated more troubling problems" in that they "demonstrated their cavalier attitude regarding privacy and security". It is disconcerting to see the precedent these security flaws seem set for future software and products. What measures can we take to ensure that our sensitive information isn't hacked, sold and distributed across the web?

Avivah Litan, Gartner security analyst, stated that phone numbers are not considered sensitive personally identifiable information. This includes credit card numbers or social security numbers. All kinds of companies collect them to verify an individual's identity.
