When searching for the best golf course near me, it is important to choose a place that is suitable for your skill level. Patriot Hills offers a fair challenge to players of all levels and is one of the top public courses in NYC.

Mosholu is located within walking distance of the Woodlawn stop on the 4 train and offers a relaxing experience for beginners and experts alike.

1. Patriot Hills Golf Course

Patriot Hills is one of the golf club near me located in Stony Point, is an exceptional public course that’s unbiasedly open to players of all skill levels. Its beautiful backdrop, a relaxing atmosphere, and challenging holes make it a great choice for anyone looking to play golf in New York City. Its challenges range from fast greens to thick trees and unmowed berms.

Patriot Hill is a short drive from Manhattan and tumbles across dramatically rolling hills in the Ramapo Mountains with breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley below. Its 6,485 yard par 71 layout is a terrific challenge with elevated tees, plenty of interesting holes, and a good variety of lengths and elevations. The spooky and intriguing Patriot Hills is the only public course in New York to feature a hole running alongside the dilapidated abandoned Letchworth Village.

The best hole on the course is arguably the 10th, a stunning downhill one-shotter that plays to a generous green surrounded by a trio of bunkers and thick rough. The 158-yard 13th is also noteworthy and a welcome departure from the rest of the course’s mostly innocuous par threes. This hole is a beauty at the end of a long, difficult, yet enjoyable round and makes Patriot Hills a memorable experience.

2. Marine Park Golf Course

Golfers looking to play a great round at a challenging course should check out Marine Park Golf Course. This course is located in southern Brooklyn and features panoramic water views and country club quality greens and fairways. This is a terrific choice for regulars and visitors alike.

The course features four sets of tees to challenge players of all skill levels. The fairways and greens are made from bermuda grass and the entire course is beautifully maintained. The staff at Marine Park Golf Course is friendly and helpful and can offer tips and tricks for playing your best round.

Marine Park Golf Course is considered one of the better municipal courses in New York City. It feels less tired than most other NYC courses, thanks to its seaside location and links-like layout. The course also has good conditions and is a decent value for NYC rates.

One of the highlights at Marine Park is the 10th hole, a short, reachable par 5 that plays dead straight at 488 yards. Accuracy is key off the tee here as fescue-covered mounds line the right side all the way to a large, back-to-front sloping green.

3. Mosholu Golf Course

In the heart of New York City, Mosholu Golf Course is a 9-hole public golf course that balances difficulty with playability. The tees and greens are well-maintained, and the staff is always friendly. The course is easily accessible by subway and is ideal for golfers of all skill levels.

Founded in 1914 and located less than a mile from Van Cortlandt Park, Mosholu was one of the first municipal courses built in the country. Its original routing epitomized golf before enculturated standards, and in the 2000s, it underwent a full renovation by Stephen Kay and Doug Smith. Today, it offers breathtaking views of grassland and woodland while providing a welcoming environment for golfers of all skill levels.

Mosholu features a variety of great holes, but the best is the 277-yard 8th. The fairway is narrow and tree-lined, with a huge right swale interrupting the green’s back-to-front slope. The green is also a great example of a Biarritz design, with Raynor-style bunkers guarding the left and right sides.

During his time at Yale and working for Hanse Design, Brockner learned two simple principles that he would apply to Mosholu’s renovation: First, high-quality, interesting design does not have to cost more than the bland, boring alternative. Second, the best way to get beginners excited about the game is to expose them to it on a playing field that is cool and fun to play. At Mosholu, Brockner’s commitment to these principles is clear – just look at the smiles on players’ faces.

4. Westchester County Golf Courses

In addition to offering a spectacular landscape, Westchester County has a wealth of top golf courses for beginners and pros. For instance, the Hudson Hills Golf Course has a layout that combines large greens with challenging elevation changes for an unforgettable golf experience. This prestigious course is located in Hastings-On-Hudson and has unique residential offerings nearby, including homes for sale that range from the $800s to the $600s.

The Black Course at Bethpage State Park is another iconic public golf course that should be on every aficionado’s bucket list. While it may be difficult to get a tee time, once you do, you will be rewarded with one of the best, if not the greatest public course in metro NY.

Other notable public golf courses in the area include the aforementioned Westchester Country Club in Rye; the beautiful Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale; and the classic A.W. Tillinghast designed North Salem Golf Club.

There are also six courses run by the county. Of these, the newest and most expensive is Hudson Hills. However, this course offers the best pace of play and has one of the best-conditioned fairways of all of the county courses. Dunwoodie is a short but difficult course that will stroke your ego, while Maple Moor has some drainage issues and can be difficult to get a tee-time on weekends.

The new wave of fitness social clubs prioritizes high design and indulgent experiences. From IV drips to infrared light saunas and cryotherapy, these bespoke third spaces are bringing wellness-focused socializing to the masses.

Whether you’re looking to reduce stress, improve your diet or connect with like-minded people, wellness clubs have it all. Here are the latest opulent, health-focused spaces opening in Los Angeles.

1. Remedy Place

When social wellness club Los Angeles Remedy Place opened in West Hollywood last year, it was the first of its kind. Now with a second location in NYC's Flatiron district and a third set to open in Soho next month, the company plans two new locations a year as it answers demand for holistic healing and community experiences.

Founder and CEO Dr. Jonathan Leary—who's also a concierge wellness doctor with a clientele of celebrities, executives and pro athletes—says the goal is to democratize wellness by creating a space where people can indulge in treatments like cryotherapy, infrared saunas and vitamin IV drips the way they might grab a cocktail at a bar. Members can pay as they go for the treatments or purchase an all-access membership for $500 a month that includes unlimited cryotherapy, one element per month (including hyperbaric oxygen chambers, acupuncture and lymphatic drainage massage), group classes and lounges.

The suites are designed to be communal, so you can bring friends and colleagues with you to a session like the Breathwork Ice Bath Class where you can dip your body in a trio of tubs alongside up to five others—plus one instructor who guides participants through breath work to help manage the three- to six-minute plunge. That's just a small example of how Leary says Remedy Place differs from hospitals and clinics that have a negative physiological effect on the body by tensing up muscles and elevating heart rates.

2. Heimat

The newest member of the West Hollywood club scene is Heimat, a luxury fitness complex that is nothing short of spectacular. Named after the German word describing the feeling of home, the seven-story, 55,000-square-foot facility occupies a painstakingly renovated 1933 building and aims to provide “radiant fitness experiences.” That includes invigorating workouts, spa treatments, nourishing cuisine and a cultivated private community. The club, which opened in June in a former commercial warehouse at 960 North La Brea Avenue, specializes in group classes—from Reformer Pilates to boxing, spin, barre, TRX, Kinesis and yoga—and offers state-of-the-art equipment and amenities like a rooftop pool and coworking spaces.

But the real draw is its aesthetics: Groschel describes it as a “fantastically opulent” experience, from gold automatic entrance doors to the opulent locker rooms with Dyson hair dryers and spacious saunas lined in Himalayan salt. “We wanted to show off the incredibly rich building materials,” she says. That includes a mix of high-impact hardwoods that look burned or oiled, stone, exposed concrete and woven textiles.

And that’s a good thing. Like the other new wave of upscale, post-pandemic private clubs (Zero Bond in New York and Dream Hollywood’s The Social Club), Heimat is designed to appeal to wealthy, affluent members who aren’t afraid to spend. Memberships start at $350 a month, far more than the average at Equinox and nearly tripling the cost of the club’s nightclub-themed competitor John Reed.

3. Healthspan

The recent decrease in the American lifespan is making many rethink how they want to spend their golden years. This has led to new businesses like the West Hollywood-based Remedy Place that combines high-end social wellness services with chiropractic and biometric testing; and Healthspan, an anti-aging digital medical clinic that offers sleep coaching, fitness and nutrition programs. Healthspan's focus on preventive healthcare has been embraced by a growing segment of the population.

The emphasis on 'healthspan' over 'lifespan' is a response to challenges that emerged when the increase in life expectancy was not matched by declines in chronic disease mortality. A growing consensus is that addressing the fundamentals of aging, such as exercise, a healthy diet and limiting alcohol intake, will improve healthspan while also increasing life expectancy.

In addition to providing an opportunity to learn from longevity experts, the summit provides unique activations such as ice baths, nature breaks and brain paint neurofeedback demos that help attendees decompress from a day of learning. The event is held at a beautiful locale, this year in Rancho Palos Verdes looking out over the ocean. The education and experience combine to create a healthspan conference that is not to be missed.
