Watch The Batman Online Netflix Series Is Not Just Edgy or Raw - It's an "Addictive Thrill Ride"
Netflix
has made a major change in the world of superhero television. No longer
will fans have to wait for a show like Arrow or The Flash or even
Marvel's Jessica Jones to come out on their streaming platform.
Netflix's upcoming live-action series, The Batman, is a reimagined take
on the Caped Crusader with its own completely original cast, spin on the
genre and take on the character that the best Batman adaptations can
only dream of.
A new trailer has arrived for the series that
seeks to modernize the Dark Knight for the 21st century. It stars Ben
Affleck, who once played the character in Zack Snyder's
critically-acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy, but now plays the Dark Knight
in a way that won't remind you of that film. And it sounds fantastic.
The
Batman is an "addictive thrill ride" that will not be an equal
opportunity distillation of the character like Christopher Nolan's Dark
Knight Trilogy. It will do justice to his source material while bringing
something new to the table and doing it in a unique way.
Check out the new The Batman trailer below. The series debuts in 2018:
Harley
Quinn, the Joker, and the Penguin seem to be a big part of this series,
but this is also going to be a hero-centric show. Don't expect to see
Batman battling a ton of supervillains in a given season. This is not
The Justice League. The Batman will take place in the high-stakes crime
of Gotham City in the midst of the chaos and corruption that resulted
from Superman's death.
It sounds like this is going to be one of
the most memorable reimaginings of the Batman character that DC has
done. And no other property needs to be built with the same real-world
as an irreverent superhero as this one does.
The first season
will consist of only eight episodes, so it's not going to be the 22 or
24 hour-long adventure for the duration of its run. It'll be around a
couple hours, and the first season is going to have a gritty, gritty
vibe like Batman Begins or a Jessica Jones.
It's a long-awaited
and much-anticipated foray into live-action superhero television, and
the first real superhero television show to focus on the concept of the
Dark Knight. And it's going to be an instantly bingeable thrill ride.
Where to stream The Batman
The
Batman is written and executive produced by Matt Reeves, who directed
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes.
Reeves will also direct all episodes. This series is being produced by
Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
