Codeine is used to treat mild to moderate pain and also to reduce coughing. It is usually combined with other medicines, such as acetaminophen, in prescription pain medicines. - If you have ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine.

You can take codeine either before or after food, but taking the tablets after food can help prevent feelings of sickness which can occur with the first few doses.
