It has bothered me several times since I switched out of
OSRS Fire Cape. I thought the OSRS Reddit community was shitty but at least if I posted a query (if it be in a thread or it's own thread) people wouldn't make me feel like I am doing something disagreeable. I have always seen the downvote button like a relevancy indicator, and just actually downvote stuff if it's wildly off topic. It seems like this sub simply loves to downvote individuals for being fresh, I can't say I know it, but I don't really give a shit anymore. Should karma is held by my queries? Definitely, they're just questions. Nothing inherently positive or negative about them. Do they? No, but sometimes they even back outside to impartial after first obtaining several downvotes (appears some folks understand that downvoted questions get suppressed and try to bring up them ). It shouldn't be like that.
It was. My friend convinced me to change over once I maxed and got bored of OSRS. We're buds irl and he informed his clan about me considering switching, they've a 2.4k total restriction but they knew who I was when I finally switched over they rated me in the clan straight off tut island and everyone was super composed and amazing, then I came here and felt like I was kinda being told"fuck off noob." Glad I did not, Runescape is excellent. This sub needs work, but there are undoubtedly a ton of really great helpful people who have been in it for quite a while, they deserve some credit too.
I'd love to add, it'd make some sense if obtained downvoted. In addition, I feel very weird even speaking about downvotes, isn't there like an unwritten rule about not doing that? I feel like the whole hostility to questions thing is just another symptom of efficiencyscape, except rather than criticizing people for coaching abilities inefficiently, it's criticizing people for seeking replies inefficiently. Only the most effective method (studying wiki) is allowed, everything else is incorrect, even though asking other players will nonetheless provide an answer.
So people are supposed to play with a singleplayer game and never speak to anyone because everything is about the wiki and there's no justification for creating talks. No wonder public chat is dead relative to ten years ago and folks speak more about politics than about Runescape, since politics is based on opinion rather than on the wiki. I get it. The wiki did not exist for a lot of
Buy RS3 Gold players. When I originally started (then quit, then proceeded to OSRS years later) we did not have a wiki. It is really just a case of"I learned Runescape the hard way, you can also" imo.
That kinda the essence of the playerbase, elderly people who have been playing forever for the most part. No one wants to be bombarded with questions and I'm sure the men and women who sit on this sub refreshing by feel that way. Anyhow I don't think I've played Runescape with all the wiki closed in ages. I am certainly reading pages if I'm not pvming. It sucks while skilling however that I don't lose sleep over it that I read the wiki than talk to people beyond the clan.
There's two issues really. New players making question's about Runescape, then getting downvoted without an answer. The solution is that the Weekly Megathread which I think solves the issue of collecting everyone with Fundamental Questions into one location (you know those answers already). However, I do not believe in the Subreddit users here, I believe just a couple of them will redirect these new users to the Megathreadothers will just answer their questions, while the others will still downvote them (that is the problem this post concentrated on, as fas as I am aware).
